Description:
Carbon fiber is the latest and most advanced material in dental posts. Glass fiber is the perfect material when you want to obtain the advantages of carbon fiber combined with superior esthetic results.Both posts are very strong and virtually unbreakable. They have similar elasticity as dentin, enabling the posts to flex with the natural dentin. These posts dissipate occlusal stress and do not transmit it as metal posts do. CF Carbon Fiber Post and GF Glass Fiber Post consist of strong fiber (carbon or glass) bundles embedded in a special composite material, which will chemically bond with the dental material used for cementation and core buildup. These bundles are made of a fiber reinforced epoxy resin with the reinforcing fibers in the form of a braided plait. Fibers as a braided plait in a multi-axial arrangement gives superior resistance to bending and torsion forces than fibers in an ordinary axially parallel arrangement. Fiber content is approximately 65% in both posts. They are fitted into the root canal in a passive and precise way and they have a passive retention slots instead of active cutting treads.
Indications:
Posts are used to give retention for the reconstruction of non-vital teeth, where the root canal has been endodontically treated.
