Five 10ml Plastic Bottles
We strongly recommend GP-SOLVENT to those dental practitioners still using chloroform as a softening agent for gutta percha. Here is why:
Chloroform was determined to be a hazardous substance by the Delaney Clause submitted to the U.S. Congress ir~ 1958. And in 1976, the NCI (National Cancer Institute) denounced chloroform as a strongly carcinogenic substance. Chloroform was erased from the Pharmacopoeia of Japan on April 1 st of the same year. The government of Japan subsequently took strong measures to bar~ the use o f chloroform in the manufacture of drugs, quasi-drugs and cosmetics. Clearly chloroform presents significant and real health risks. GP-SOLVENT, in addition to being extremely effective, has been proven safe through extensive clinical testing, and was approved as a medical device in 1989.
PROPERTIES
Extremely Effective Softening and Dissolving Action
GP-SOLVENT makes it easy to remove gutta percha and other root canal filling materials using a reamer or similar instrument.Low Volatility
GP-SOLVENT is far less volatile than chloroform,so frequent reapplication during treatment is unnecessary.Clinically Proven to be Safe
GP-SOLVENT has been clinically proven to cause virtually no irritation to oral mucosa and periapical tissue. The principal active ingredient in GPSOLVENT,d-limonen, is a natural substance extracted and refined from orange oil.lt has seen wide use in the medical field for dissolving gallstones through direct application.Fresh Citrus Fragrance
Patients and practitioners both prefer GP-SOLVENT's fresh scent.
Directions for Use
Place an appropriate amount of GP-SOLVENT into the pulp chamber using a syringe or small cotton pellet. After root canal filling/gutta percha is sufficiently softened or dissolved, remove with a reamer or similar instrument.
Recommended Two-visit Method
If root canal fillings are found to be particularly difficult to remove, place a small cotton pellet soaked in GP-SOLVENT on the fillings and cover with a temporary sealant*. By the subsequent appointment one or two days later, the fillings will be sufficiently soft to allow easy removal.
*Zinc phosphate cement is recommended for temporary sealing. Avoid temporary stopping and zinc oxide eugenol cement as these may dissolve.
Precautions for Use
1. In case of accidental exposure to oral mucosa, mild local irritation may occur. Wipe off and rinse with water.
2. Discontinue use immediately if patient shows hypersensitivity to GP-SOLVENT.
3. GP-SOLVENT is for dental use only.
Precautions for Storage
1. GP-SOLVENT is volatile and flammable. Do not place it in direct contact with a flame or heat source.
2. GP-SOLVENT is volatile and may experience gradual chemical changes if left uncapped. Keep bottles tightly capped after each use.
